Open educational resources (OER) are educational materials that are freely available online and have an open license for use. OER content may be audio, video, text, or multi-media. There may be content for a small concept, a learning module, or a complete course. Intellectual property rights are established through licensing, with Creative Commons being one source of OER licensing.OER materials span a wide range, and instructors may develop an entire course based on OERs, or they may choose to supplement the course offering with specific OER content. Many organizations provide content, and a Google search may identify additional items.
