Financial Assistance

The staff of the BMCC Student Financial Assistance Office is committed to helping students put together a financial package that will help them reach their academic goals. Financial Aid File completion deadlines: To allow for processing time and funds to be available by the tuition due date, completed files must be submitted to the Financial Aid office by:

Completed files consist of a completed FAFSA, completed BMCC FAIR letter, and other documentation requested by the Financial Aid office on your Student Wolfweb.

Applications will still be accepted after the above dates. However, eligibility may not be determined in enough time to pay tuition and fees prior to the beginning of the term. If an applicant is eligible for aid, the award will be made retroactive.  If you miss this date, you MUST be prepared to purchase books and supplies, and set up an installment plan for your tuition and fees according to college tuition deadlinesIf out-of-pocket expenses are not reasonable, you should consider postponing enrollment until the next term, or at such time that your finances allow.

 

Looking for a financial aid award?:  If you have already completed your 2014 -2015 FAFSA, your patience is greatly appreciated. Watch your e-mail for notifications and monitor your WolfWeb account for status updates and requests for information. There you will be able to see what documents are still needed or if an award has been generated. During this peak processing time of year you can expect approximately 8 - 10 weeks from the date you submit your last requested document until an award is generated.

Planning to attend Summer term 2014?:  Summer term 2014 begins our 2014-2015 academic year.  In order to receive financial aid for summer term you must first complete the 14/15 FAFSA.   Please make sure to note your intentions for summer enrollment when you submit your FAIR letter or email us at finaid@bluecc.edu if you have already been awarded.

IMPORTANT: Federal Pell Grant Program — Duration of Eligibility

Once you have received a Pell Grant for 12 semesters, or the equivalent, you will no longer be eligible for additional Pell Grants.

  • You are eligible to receive a Pell Grant for up to 12 semesters or the equivalent. If you have exceeded the 12-semester maximum, you will lose eligibility for additional Pell Grants beginning in 2012-13 school year. Equivalency is calculated by adding together the percentage of your Pell eligibility that you received each year to determine whether the total amount exceeds 600%.
