  • Support and engage about 20 Latinx high school graduates that will attend BMCC in the fall
  • Utilize and maintain a tracking database for the students worked with; create sustainability plan for ongoing life of database after program is complete.
  • Check in with students via email, text, call, face to face meetings.
  • Invite students to campus to orient them with student led groups, registration requirements, financial aid requirements, departments of campus, etc.
  • To strive to create a positive atmosphere by partnering with other leadership groups on campus.

Here are the basic requirements for consideration:

  • Must be a current BMCC student.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S.National or lawful permanent resident.
  • Attend BMCC fall, winter, and spring terms 2020-2021.
  • Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Be available to work 450 hours between June 1, 2020 and September 30, 2020.
  • Attend all Campus Compact of Oregon and Connect2Complete AmeriCorps trainings.
  • You will need your own transportation to attend events and high school visits.
  • Proof of insurance and driver’s license required if accepted as a Student Ambassador.
  • Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Enthusiasm for helping other succeed.
  • Strong initiative, self-starter and self-advocate.
  • This job may require some heavy lifting.
