Business Technologies - Accounting

The career potential for accounting students is exceptional. The increasing use of accounting information in management decisions creates an ever-growing demand for personnel trained to understand and organize financial data. The greatest demand is for individuals with computer application skills, communication, problem solving, and accounting skills.

Blue Mountain Community College offers a wide variety of individual accounting classes and accounting programs to prepare individuals for various accounting positions including office managers, accounting assistants, payroll accountants, receivable or payable clerks and full-charge bookkeepers. In addition, individuals aspiring to complete a Bachelor\'s degree in accounting can find career opportunities in public or private accounting, management, consulting, tax preparation, manufacturing, government or non-profit economic entities.

BMCC offers strong programs in accounting

Students interested in accounting should meet with an advisor and obtain current program requirement sheets. Students interested in entry-level accounting positions may obtain a one-year Accounting Technician Certificate or Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting.

The Business Technologies Department also offers a wide variety of skill building classes for individuals who would like to improve or update existing skills such as working with computers or tax preparation. In addition, the Business Administration Associate of Applied Science degree, offers students an opportunity to develop a general business background as well as specific accounting technical skills.
