BASIC FIREFIGHTER S-130/190, L-180 & I-100
This course is designed to provide entry level firefighters skills. Can be taught in either the classroom or the field; field time is encouraged. A version of L-180, Human Factors on the Fireline, has been included as part of this course.
o Explain what the LCES (Lookouts, Communications, Escape Routes, and Safety Zones) system is and how it relates to the Standard Firefighting Orders.
o Construct fireline to required standards using various methods.
o Strengthen, reinforce, and use holding actions on a fireline.
o Extinguish the fire with or without the use of water.
o Complete assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
o Given an assignment in a wildfire environment, describe factors in that environment which could impact safety.
Advanced registration required by March 17 in order for students to receive packets of pre-work required for course.
BMCC reserves the right to cancel a class for which there is insufficient enrollment. If this should happen, we will provide a full refund for the class.
Once you register for classes, you will remain registered and will be held responsible for the fees and grades assessed for these classes unless you contact BMCC to cancel your registration before class begins. If you decide not to attend a class or classes, you must drop these
