Thomas Smith, Business Advisor Umatilla County
"I was born and raised is eastern Washington, graduating from Kennewick High School in 1999. I opened my first business, TJ’s Pest Control, in spring of 2007. My second business, Between The Buns Restaurant and Hot Dog Cart opened in summer of 2009. I operated both business until summer of 2012 when I sold my pest control company and expanded my restaurant and catering business. Over the years I openly helped other business owners whether they were competition or not. In the spring of 2018 my wife and I sold our home and business and relocated our family including our 4 kids and my parents to a large piece of property outside of Pendleton. I had planned on opening another business, but when I found this position I was thrilled to be able to help other entrepreneurs wade into self-employment.
My areas of expertise include start-ups, customer acquisition, costing analysis, marketing, networking, social media use, staff training, sales/service, and branding." - Thomas Smith
