Drafting Technology

Drafting Technology is a two year Associate of Applied Science program for students interested in working as a Computer Aided Design drafter with planners, architects, engineers, and contractors. Core courses will expose students to three computer-aided design software programs as well as fundamentals in GIS/mapping, construction contract documents, surveying, and concrete testing. Drafting Technology students are required to complete work projects with area contractors and agencies as component of their course of study.

A.A.S. Degree Requirements

Students who successfully complete an A.A.S./Drafting Technology degree will be able to demonstrate the following:

2D and 3D Computer-Aided Drafting Techniques
Complete Field Surveying Projects
Project Specification Manuals Review
Prepare Preliminary Construction Estimates
Demonstrate Teamwork on Design Projects

Skills and Aptitudes

The CET program places emphasis on "hands on" experience in most of the required coursework by focusing on tasks that technicians perform in industry-based positions. The skills and abilities expected of a technician in an engineering related field include:
