Blue Mountain Community College sponsors a National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association rodeo team. BMCC has competed in the sport of rodeo since 1965. We were the national champions in 1987, were reserve champions in 1999, and have had several individual national champions throughout the years.
2017 BMCC Rodeo Teams
Competition begins in October, and we compete through May, participating in 10 rodeos. We view rodeo as an extra-curricular activity, and students must be seeking a higher education. Eligible students must have a 2.0 GPA, be enrolled in 12 academic credit hours, and be within 6 years of high school graduation.
Men’s events are saddle bronco riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling and team roping. Women’s events are barrel racing, goat tying, breakaway roping and team roping.
We encourage you to become a part of the winning tradition
of the rodeo program at BMCC
Practice stock, calves, steers, rough stock, and goats are provided for rodeo team members beginning fall term. Practice is held at private outdoors arenas; however, during winter term, the team practices at an indoor arena at the Pendleton Round-Up Grounds.
