Position requires a demonstration of competency in nursing, clinical practice, and teaching. It provides instruction in the application of critical thinking and skills learned in Pharmacology, Nursing Theory and Health Assessment. It provides instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students’ mastery of clinical nursing.
Instruction is for student nurses in an Associate of Nursing Degree program. Responsibilities also include those listed in Oregon Revised Statutes, Chapter 678 851-021-0045.
Evaluates the mastery of tasks and supervises students during clinical experiences.
Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises the objectives and curriculum of the nursing program according to the philosophy and mission statement.
Develops, implements, evaluates and revises policies and standards for the selection, admission, promotion and graduation of nursing students within the framework of the policies of the College.
Evaluates student achievement in terms of course and program objectives, and assigns grades for courses according to policies.
Provides for student evaluation of teaching effectiveness and for evaluation of faculty within the framework of the College.
Interprets the program goals and learning objectives for the students with the staff of the clinical facilities.
Participates in the periodic review of the total nursing program.
Participates cooperatively in local/regional committees to develop appropriate and equitable access to clinical facilities.
Creates an intellectual environment conducive to critical thinking and significant learning.
Engages in scholarly activities and continuing professional growth in clinical practice and teaching.
Participates in nursing faculty meetings at least once a month.
Collaborates with other faculty and participates in providing theory and clinical supervision to students enrolled in the BMCC nursing program.

Must be able to effectively perform individually or as a member of a team.
Ability to convey ideas that facilitate learning required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and two (2) years nursing experience is required. A Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Must meet qualifications set forth by the Oregon State Board of Nursing [OAR 851-021-0045(7)(c).
Must hold a valid, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Oregon.
3 years clinical and 3 years teaching experience in Acute Care Medical-Surgical Nursing is preferred.
Other Aspects of the Position
Must successfully complete a criminal history clearance prior to beginning employment.
Must have a valid driver’s license
