Responsible to conduct a quality education experience in a component, or components, of the adult education program. Components may include GED, ABE, ESL programs and/or skill development courses in Language Arts and Math.
Teaches classroom instruction in an assigned component, or components with approved materials in an adopted curriculum.
Teaches approved ESL curriculum implementing a variety of strategies to foster active learning.
Teaches approved curriculum implementing a variety of strategies to foster active learning.
Teaches academic skills in a workplace or life skills context.
Conducts regular assessment activities and reports information accurately and in a timely manner.
Utilizes available support services to help ensure student success.
Present content standards to a multi-level classroom.
Ability to use online tutoring modules to support student achievement.
Experience developing curriculum – commitment to outcome based education.
Critiques materials and educational technology and provides evaluation to the appropriate instructors and/or Senior Director.
Provides accurate and timely information to the appropriate personnel concerning enrollment and attendance.
Orients students to appropriate institution/organization policies and procedures.
Work effectively on department projects and as a part of committees.
Ability to maintain accurate student information records and commitment to complete required reporting.
Attends staff development activities and participates in staff and departmental meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Requires a range of language and math skills, including introduction to algebra and plane geometry.
Must be able to effectively convey ideas and concepts to others.
Requires an interest in and a commitment to working in a non-traditional instructional program.
Must understand and agree with the philosophy of adult education in Oregon.
Ability to teach in a multi-level classroom.
Schedules time in such a manner as to effectively carry out all lesson planning and instruction in a timely and efficient manner.
Knowledge of different learning styles and must have the ability to adapt instructional methods to them.
Knowledge of how to teach basic reading skills and proven ability to do so is required.
BA/BS Degree in Education Required, Masters in Education preferred.
Requires coursework related to instruction of reading, writing and/or math, plus courses in methodology.
Ability and/or experience working in a correctional environment.
Successful teaching experience with adult learners preferred.
Experience teaching GED preferred.
