Criminal Justice
About the Program
Oregon criminal justice agencies are facing a growing need to replace large numbers of retiring personnel, population growth, mandatory sentencing guidelines, and increasing public safety demands; employment for criminal justice professionals is expected to grow by 18 percent from 2010 to 2020 (U.S. Gov’t. Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2011).
The coursework required for the AAS/CJ degree and three CPCCS is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level employment in the areas of law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Competition for jobs in the field of criminal justice is intense; a college education is almost always a minimum requirement for the application process.
