John Fields II
Vice President of Instruction
The Vice President of Instruction serves as the chief academic officer of Blue Mountain Community College and is responsible for oversight all academic programs (transfer, career technical and non-credit community education), assessment of student learning, academic personnel decisions, budget development, program and curriculum development, and improvement of teaching and learning. In this role, the Vice President works closely with the faculty, Dean of Career Technical Education and Executive Leadership Team internally; the wider college district community including employers, ESD and public school districts; and other community colleges and universities in the state and region.
John holds a B.A. degree from the University of Florida (major: French), an M.A. from the University of Florida (major: French), and a J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law. He completed a clerkship in Family Law in Bergen County, New Jersey, interned at the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie in Nantes, France and completed an internship in FLE at Université Laval in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
Before coming to BMCC, John worked in K-12 in Jacksonville, Florida; was a tenured faculty member teaching French, Humanities, and Business Law at Florida State College at Jacksonville; and served as Dean of Humanities at Florida State College at Jacksonville.
Wade Muller Director
Interim Dean of CTE and Community Education
Identifies operational inefficiencies for process mapping and technology-driven solutions. Collaborates with College-wide departments. Plans, prepares, and submits program budgets. Monitors expenditures to ensure budget compliance for the instructional units. Oversees instruction-related preparation and submission of appropriate reports to the state. Serves as the AIS course management module manager and Office of Instruction lead for administrative system functions related to instructional processes. Serves as the initial contact for student complaints about academic matters.
Manages the daily operation of the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) as the administrator including LMS configuration, course and account management, and technical support for users. Bruce also provides support for test proctoring online students, student course evaluations, web conferencing systems and other eLearning activities at BMCC.
Early College Coordinator / Instructional Support Specialist
Provides instructional design support for BMCC faculty for both online and face-to-face classes, as well as implementing professional development and training programs for faculty and staff. Karen also coordinates the Early College Credit program, which provides opportunities for students to earn college credits while still in high school. Karen holds a BA degree in English Linguistics from Western Oregon University and a Master’s in Adult Education from Oregon State University.
