My wife, Michelle, and I are happy to give our permission for a press release to the EO and also notification to BMCC faculty and staff.
OPB's "Think Out Loud" is interviewing Blue Mountain Community College student, Rebekah Burcham, on July 1st. Listeners are invited to tune in to 90.9 FM July 1st from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. to hear Rebekah talk about her writing.
Emily Harris, the host of "Think Out Loud," contacted BMCC writing instructor Shaindel Beers looking for young writers who would be doing great things in the future. "I immediately thought of Rebekah," said Beers. "She came to my fiction class and had already been working seriously on a novel. When I read it, I was blown away and started trying to help Rebekah publish chapters as stand-alone short stories. The first chapter is still under consideration with the Los Angeles Review."
According to her father, Ken Burcham, Rebekah is 15, homeschooled, and has been taking classes at BMCC for two years. "She aspires to become a writer," said Burcham, "and is very excited about the affirmation she has received from Ms. Beers and also Emily Harris."
