The Blue Mountain Community College Native American Club has offered free basket weaving classes on Wednesdays on the Pendleton campus since November. Master weaver Michael Ray Johnson is the instructor. The last December class is on the eighth and then classes will continue through the month of January. The classes are free to BMCC students, faculty and staff, and the general public.

BMCC Native American liaison Brandie Weaskus set up the classes to celebrate diversity at the college and give Natives and non-Natives a chance to learn a new skill and build community while making yarn baskets.
