BMCC Received AED Grant

Blue Mountain Community College can soon rest easy because automated external defibrillators (AEDs) will be available in every building on the Pendleton campus, thanks to a $5,624 grant from the Pendleton Community Health Corporation. The grant will purchase four defibrillators to be place in the Science & Technology and Health Education buildings, Umatilla, and Emigrant Halls.

"We had a heart attack scare last summer," said human resources director Art Doherty, "during the incident we had to run to another building for an AED; so acquiring one defibrillator per building became the number one priority for the BMCC Safety Committee. The Pendleton Community Health Corporation grant is particularly helpful by serving the community in these times of budget constraints," added Doherty.

The Pendleton Community Health Corporation also awards health care scholarships, which benefit BMCC nursing students.
