Self defense classes are offered at Blue Mountain Community College as part of a community education campaign.
In the 4-hour class, instructor Scott Fowler teaches students to be aware of people in their surroundings and how to react and defend themselves. According to Fowler, "Criminals exhibit predatory behavior in preparing to attack. They will try to pick a casual location to look for prey. They will look at their intended victim for longer periods of time than social norms and they often make several passes by the prey."
Classes are free and scheduled on January 4, February 1, and March 1 in the BMCC McCrae Activity Center mezzanine. More information is available at
www.bluecc.edu/continuingeducation and students can register at the class. For more information call Jennifer Gambill at 541-278-5786.
