BMCC STUDENTS LEARN ETIQUETTE AT HAMLEY’S
A rite of passage for graduating students in the TRiO program at Blue Mountain Community College is the spring term etiquette dinner. Now in its sixth year, this year’s event will be held at Hamley’s Steakhouse. The dining experience and etiquette training will be graciously provided by Jane Hill, who left a fast paced career in politics (having eaten her way through college cafeterias to the private dining room of the Unites States Senate in Washington, D.C.) to relocate in Pendleton, OR with her family. Instruction will also be provided regarding how to handle a job interview during a meal.
TRiO Director Donna Richardson ranks this experience as invaluable to the first generation, income-eligible students who TRiO serves. "Our students need to know how to handle themselves in this environment, as well as learning the art of small talk. For many of our students, this is their first foray into the world of formal dining. Dining at Hamley’s is a lesson in etiquette and good manners, as well as a confidence builder for the students."
