SBDC - Small Business Management Program

Small Business Management ProgramOur three year Small Business Management Program is designed to serve owners of established businesses in Umatilla and Morrow Counties.

The SBM screening process is designed to assess the applicant’s level of commitment to their business, potential conflicts of interest, and possible competition with other program participants. The goal is to create an environment in which owners can freely discuss their common and individual opportunities and challenges. A long list and wide variety of businesses have participated in our SBM program during its 20 years of operation.

Each group of business owners meets monthly (September through July) in an informal “round table” setting.

Our SBM Instructor / Counselor visits each participating business monthly to help implement group discussion topics and address specific business issues.

Examples of topics covered in detail with each business during the 3-year SMB program:

  • Financial Management
  • Marketing
  • Human Resources Management
  • Systems and Controls

Developing appropriate records, long range goals, and evaluation procedures are essential to the SBM process.

Confidentiality is key to the credibility and success of the program.

A certificate is awarded for the completion of each year.

An informal SBM Alumni program offers continuing educational and networking opportunities.
