BMCC Men's Basketball Coach
Head CoachAnthony Elias was named head men’s basketball coach at Blue Mountain Community College on February 12, 2012.
Elias had spent the previous six seasons at Concordia University, Nebraska.
A native of San Jose, CA, Elias played for the Concordia Bulldogs from 2002-04, contributing to a Great Plains Athletic Conference championship and NAIA quarterfinalist team in 2003.
In his role as assistant coach at Concordia University, Elias, was instrumental in helping guide the Bulldogs to a national ranking in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Elias coached 2 NAIA All-Americans, 19 All-Conference nominees, 1 GPAC Defensive Player of the Year honoree, and 1 Freshman of the Year honoree during his time at Concordia.
Prior to Concordia University, Elias served as the head coach at Mt. Pleasant High School in San Jose, CA, from 2004-06. Elias inherited a program that had won 2 conference games the year before his arrival. Elias’s second season with the Cardinals resulted in the team winning the Blossom Valley Athletic League championship and with Elias being named the league Coach of the Year.
Prior to Mt. Pleasant High School, Elias served as an assistant coach at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, CA. While at Cuyamaca, Elias helped recruit and matriculate numerous student-athletes that continued their careers at 4-year colleges and universities.
Elias received his master’s degree in sports leadership from Concordia University, Chicago, a bachelor’s degree in human performance from Concordia University, Nebraska, and an associate’s degree from Cuyamaca College.
