BMCC Wins at American Farm Bureau Contest
The Blue Mountain Community College Young Farmers and Ranchers Club (YF & R) competed in the Oregon Farm Bureau Young Farmers &Ranchers Discussion Meet at the recent state convention held in Lincoln City.
BMCC took seven students to the convention, including Kayla Taylor, Browns Valley, CA, who won the collegiate event and who will be competing at the American Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Meet in February in Orlando, FL., BMCC’s Nicole Markgraf, Baker City, and Bowdrie Boston, Pendleton, placed second and third. Other BMCC members who competed were RaeLea Vickerman, Alturas, CA; Kristen Follett, Pendleton, OR; and Jarrod Maxwell, Baker City, OR.
Each state can send two competitors to the American Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers and Ranchers Leadership Conference. Kayla Taylor and Nicole Markgraf will compete for Oregon and Blue Mountain Community College.
The American Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers and Ranchers program includes both men and women between the ages of 18-35. The objective of the Young Farmers and Ranchers program is to provide leadership in building a more effective Farm Bureau to preserve our individual freedoms and expand our opportunities in agriculture.
