Pendleton – Blue Mountain Community College allied health programs got a boost today, thanks to a $21,207 donation from the Layton, Edith Roehlk & Donna B. Mann Trust. The donation was presented to BMCC Foundation executive director Margaret Gianotti and BMCC president John Turner by trustee Annette Matlock and Mann Trust financial advisor, Jack Matlock of Trustime.
The Mann Trust was established over 30 years ago by Mr. and Mrs. Layton Mann and their disabled daughter, Donna Belle, to benefit medical programs in the Pendleton community. This year’s donation goes to support BMCC dental assisting and nursing programs.
“This gift could not come at a better time.” said BMCC president John Turner. “As we’re faced with falling state revenue, expensive technical programs like nursing and dental assisting can suffer.” A second benefit is the Mann Trust contribution will be matched by the James F. & Marion L. Miller Foundation, as part of a matching challenge grant to Oregon community colleges. “So the Mann gift of $21,000 just made a $42,000 impact on the college’s ability to provide programs,” said Turner. “This is definitely a good news story for us.”
